Community Outreach

 

Saint John contributes to several community ministries in Griffin, including the following, and invites you to join us in serving with them.

Five Loaves and Two Fish Food Pantry

215 W. Slaton St., Griffin

Volunteers are needed during the following hours:

     Monday and Wednesday: 2-4 pm

     Tuesday and Thursday: 10 am to noon, 5-6 pm

     Saturday: 10 am to noon

Abundant Life Soup Kitchen ("King's Table")

Parish Hall of Saint George's Episcopal Church

132 North 10th Street, Griffin

Volunteers are needed each weekday from 11 am to 1 pm.

Spalding Samaritans

Sponsored by the Spalding Clergy Association, this ministry provides utility bill assistance to citizens of Spalding County. Volunteers are needed to help interview clients on the third Tuesday of every month, 12:45 –2:30 pm, at First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 106 W. Taylor Street, Griffin.

Thanksgiving Meal Ministry

Each year Saint John organizes a Thanksgiving meal ministry. Joining with many other congregations in the community, we prepare and deliver about 1000 Thanksgiving dinners to residents in Spalding, Pike and Lamar counties. Volunteers are always needed.

Chicken-Que Benefit

Each spring Saint John sponsors a Chicken-Que. All proceeds from the event go back into the community; sponsored programs and organizations include Five Loaves and Two Fish, the Hope Health Clinic, Abundant Life Soup Kitchen, Haven House, and Spalding Samaritans.
